InformationAdmissions
At Abbey College Birmingham, you can be enrolled on any of the following:
Joining Lower Sixth
All prospective students are required to attend an initial meeting with the Principal, Head of Lower Sixth or Vice Principal.
We do not have entry requirements for our Lower Sixth courses but will give you realistic advice about your needs for successful university entry based on your GCSE grade profile and, where relevant, your fist time AS grade profile.
Ther are some courses where a B grade at GCSE is beneficial for success in the course, such as Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics and others where a good GCSE profile is preferred due to the demanding nature of the course at AS Level, such as Economics.
All students joining us must have a satisfactory academic and character reference from their previous school prior to enrolment.
If we cannot see prospective international students in person, we will carry out a telephone interview. This is usually carried out by our Director of International Admissions. We test all international students in induction week, in order to guide students to appropriate subject choices.
Joining Upper Sixth
This programme is usually offered to students that are transferring from a Lower Sixth course elsewhere or students repeating their upper sixth year due to underperformance.

AS Level results will guide the meeting and we will offer realistic advice with regards to university entry requirements. Where a student has carried our an AS Level on a different examination board to that which we teach, it may be that we need to transfer boards and attainment to date. This will be explained at the interview stage, should it be necessary.
All students joining us must have a satisfactory academic and character reference from their previous school.
