Abbey College Football Tournament

On Wednesday 16th March, Abbey College hosted another football tournament at the National Indoor Arena.

Four schools from across the city joined the Abbey College team for an afternoon of competitive football.

In the first game against Broadway School, Abbey College made a very slow start and, missing a penalty, lost 0-1.  The second game was against a skillful Harborne Academy team who Abbey battled hard against, but eventually lost 0-2.

Abbey College came out needing a win against Small Heath School to have any chance of reaching the final.  After making a good start to the game, we went up by one goal.  Small Heath came back with a goal with 4 minutes to go.  Then with 2 minutes left Samdeesh, who had been carrying an injury all afternoon, came through and scored the winner.

Abbey College also won their last game 2-1 against Bishop Walsh, but failed to make the final on goal difference.  Well done to the squad who tried hard throughout and played some good football at times.

Well done:  Samdeesh, Amar, Iyo, Zishan, Juggy, Amirlan, Sham and Harron.
