ACB Celebrates Christmas

15th December 2010

The College Council worked hard to organise an end of term Christmas celebration for Abbey College students and staff.  They invited all students and staff to join in with the festivities on the afternoon of Wednesday,15th December.

There was a great atmosphere and everyone had lots of fun.  There were presents and prizes given out to reward those who got into the Christmas spirit! The Christmas Decoration competition brightened the college, with an array of decorations ranging from home made to some rather impressive purchases from local shops.  Guest Judge, Sarah Munton, along with council member, Maria Villalobos Finigan, scored the classrooms;  Congratulations to Rita Sarna's winning tutor group.

The festivities started with an introduction from the Council who took the opportunity to inform the student body about everything they had achieved so far this year and what they have in the pipeline for the next two terms.  All students took part in a quiz covering everything from general knowledge to all things Christmassy, the winning team enjoying their well earned prizes.  There were then performances from staff and students; we had a beautiful rendition from Jessie Venegas of Silent Night in English and Spanish and then Sylvia Keatley with Let it Snow. Our international performances didn't end there, Sharon Zhao, a Lower Sixth Chinese student, sang a Chinese pop song with both English and Korean rap. Moving then on to wishing all a Merry Christmas in a variety of languages, the staff finally performed The 12 Days of Christmas in Sign language.  All in all, the entire event was a real success with all staff and students getting fully involved!

Many thanks to the College Council!
