On Wednesday 24th November, Abbey College hosted a Key Stage 4 / 5 football tournament.  Teams from, King Edwards Aston Bishop Walsh, Phoenix Collegiate, Golden Hillock, International, Small Heath and Al-Hijrah entered the event.

Abbey College were in Pool B and our first game was against Golden Hillock Sports College.  After 6 minutes the score was level at 1-1.  Two clear cut chances for Abbey, and  a strike on post and a disallowed goal, but the score was still tied with one minute left.  In the dying seconds of the game, Golden Hillock pressed and scored.  Final score 1-2 loss for Abbey.

In the second game against King Edward Aston, again Abbey were the stronger team, with Samdeesh mesmerising their defence throughout the game, but Abbey could not find that elusive goal, final score 0-0.

The final group game was against Phoenix Collegiate; Abbey required a win to go through to the semi final.  Again, Abbey were the better team but  Phoenix hung on to get a 0-0 draw.  Unfortunately, that result meant we did not progress to the semi finals.

The final was contested between Bishop Walsh and International.  Bishop Walsh won on penalties.

The squad played well but it was just one of those days when luck deserted them!
