Teams from Abbey College, Small Heath School, Holte, Joseph Chamberlain, Broadway and Moseley School took part in the event at the National Indoor Arena.  There were 4 players in a squad, and each match consisted of 4 singles and 2 doubles games.

After the initial group matches, Joseph Chamberlain had reached the semi-final along with Holte School. The other group had

3 teams tied on 7 points and Moseley qualified as they had won more individual games 10, Abbey had 9 and Small Heath had 8.

The eventual winners were Joseph Chamberlain College.  The Abbey College team played well and were a little unlikely not

to qualify for the final stages of the competition.
