Music Media Workshop

Music / Media Workshop at Abbey College - Wednesday 4th February 2011

Ex-student, James Abdou, returned to the college to speak to students about careers in media, journalism and the music industry. James is currently studying Film and Broadcast Production at King's College London, whilst also establishing himself as a digital media editor and journalist for the company Gonzo Media and managing up and coming artists in the music industry.

He spoke to students about the balance between practical experience and formal education and the importance of his A-level subjects, particularly Media Studies, in shaping both his degree choice and his existing and future career.

James was accompanied by artist John-Paul Palombo, whom he represents. John-Paul treated students to an acoustic version of his forthcoming single and spoke about both the creative and business aspects of the music industry.

James, who is working with us to arrange work experience opportunities for current students, is one of a number of alumni who have returned to the college this year to share their experience of life beyond Abbey.
