Winter Cricket - 9th November 2011

Abbey College hosted Small Heath School and Sixth Form centre for an indoor cricket match. Small Heath won the toss and decided to bat. The opening pair made a great start pushing the score up to 75 for no loss.  Each team started on plus 50 runs and were deducted 5 runs for every wicket taken over 14 overs.

Once the Abbey boys got into their rhythm, they started to pick away at the batters taking 3 quick wickets, with some excellent bowling from Zain Oppal, Gurpreet and Mohammed. After 6 drop catches ( aaahhhh!!!! ), Small Heath scored 172.

Gurpreet and Zain opened the batting for Abbey, making excellent start for the Abbey team reaching 70 for no loss.  Mohammed then came in to push this score to 85. Unfortunately, our inexperience showed and our final total was 115.

Overall, a promising start for our cricketers with players coming in the last minute to represent Abbey due to absentees and also playing against a group of well experienced cricketers from Small Heath.

Well done to:

Gurpreet, Zain Oppal, Mohammed, Adnan, Nikol and Sunny.
