Why study A Level Art & Design at Abbey College Birmingham?
At Abbey College we are able to offer individually tailored courses to maximise skills and abilities in a student centred way. The department is run by a professional practising artist who has exhibited both regionally and nationally for many years and has over fourteen years of teaching experience. She has worked in the creative industries sector since 1993.
Subject Overview
We aim to give students the opportunity to explore a variety of approaches within Art and Design. The course will encourage you to investigate visual and other sources of information using your imagination and skills through a wide range of processes and techniques. There will be an emphasis on encouraging independent learning. Spontaneity, excitement and enjoyment of the subject will be promoted through experimentation and exploration of a range of 2D and 3D media. The Art & Design courses develop practical creative skills, and knowledge of contemporary, cultural and historical contexts appropriate to each project. Individuals will also develop their ability to analyse and evaluate their own work and the artwork of others.
