A Level Results

Abbey College students achieved a very good set of A-Level results in 2011, with 38% of all results being top A* and A grades, an increase of 9% on 2010, whilst pass rates remained high at 97%.  In addition, most international students taking our new International Business Foundation Programme scored an average of over 70% across their subjects.

Particular congratulations to the following students for their exceptional achievements at A-Level:

Tianze Cai - A A A A A in Accounting, Chinese, Economics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics.

Hager Mahmoud - A* A A A in Arabic, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Steven Ngo - A A* A in Economics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics.

Linh Nguyen - A A* A* in Business, Mathematics and Further Mathematics.

Jujhar Sarai - A A A in Biology, Chemistry and Economics.

Amirlan Seksenbayev - A A* A A A* in Economics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Russian.

A number of other students also achieved A*/A and B grades in all their subjects.

Top 30 UK Independent Sixth Form College for 2011 at A-Level - February 2012

Value Added Results at A-Level 2009-2011 - December 2011

Abbey College Birmingham participates in the national scheme for measuring value added at A-Level run by the 'Alps' organisation. The college was recognised by Alps in December 2011 as being in the top 15% nationally for value added at A-Level over the three year period for 2009-2011.

Schools' Performance Table January 2011

Abbey College ranked 1st in Birmingham in Government 2010 A-Level Performance Table - January 2011.

Abbey College Birmingham was the top school/college in the Birmingham area for value added at A-Level in 2010.  The 2010 Secondary School and College A-Level Achievement and Attainment Tables published on 13th January 2011 showed that, out of nearly 60 independent and maintained schools and colleges in the Birmingham area, Abbey College students achieved the best value added score.

GCSE Results

Abbey College students achieved some pleasing GCSE results in 2011, with the percentage of top A* grades (9%) the highest on record and pass rates well above the national average.  For students who joined from other schools to re-take GCSE's, there was an average grade improvement of over one grade in subjects, while students taking a GCSE programme for the first time secured 6 or 7 A*- C grades.  Particular congratulations to Laila Khattak who achieved 4 A* and 2 A grades among her results.
